There's been a lot of hootin' an' hollerin' about "Accidental Racist," his new song with LL Cool J, but the country star is standing by the controversial Southern anthem.
On Monday night, the 40-year-old singer took to Twitter to defend his Confederate flag-lovin' ditty. "So,as you buy this album,I hope it triggers emotions. I hope you feel joy,heartache,triumph,surprise; you laugh,cry,nudge someone beside you," he wrote.
"...I hope the album rocks you,soothes you,raises questions,answers,evokes feelings, all the way through until Officially Alive," he continued. "'Cause I wouldn't change a thing. This is a record meant to be FAR from easy listening. But fun. Like life. Have a ball, ya'll. love- brad"
So while Brad is "Caught somewhere between Southern pride and Southern blame," and LL just wants us to understand "what the world is really like when you're living in the hood," maybe the rest of us should just take a moment to remember it's 2013.
It's just a song though, y'all, so don't let it get your goose. But if you're a "son of the new South," Brad's new album Wheelhouse comes out Tuesday.
