There's nothing abstract about this. Except maybe the painting itself.
Madonna sold a piece of artwork by Fernand Léger for $7.2 million in New York City on Tuesday.
The singer had originally purchased the 1921 painting "Three Women at the Red Table" at a Sotheby's auction house sale for $3.4 million in 1990.
Proceeds from yesterday's sale will benefit Madonna's Ray of Light Foundation, supporting girls' education projects in Afghanistan, Pakistan and other countries.
"Thanks to everyone who helped make it happen!" Madonna wrote on her Facebook page.
