"They live together; the wedding is not off," the insider added.
"You can't postpone a wedding that never had a date in the first place. Their plan all along was to wait a couple of years before even thinking about a date. The People story is ridiculous."
Cyrus has been sparking talks of a split from Hunger Games beau Liam Hemsworth after numerous outings without her 3.5-carat Neil Lane diamond ring.
The source adds: "She just doesn't wear it sometimes. People shouldn't read too much into that."
A second insider tells E! News that the 20-year-old singer "loves Liam very much" and that the two "are finding things hard right now, but Miley is hopeful it will get worked out."
