Production officially began for the fifth season of Glee Monday.
And star Chris Colfer admits it's been tough as the cast copes with the sudden death of costar Cory Monteith.
"It's been a rough couple of weeks," the 23-year-old actor said on LIVE With Kelly and Michael Wednesday morning. "But we're hanging in there. We're doing good."
While the actor has yet to return to the set, he believes filming will bring solace and comfort to the castmembers, who are leaning on each other in the wake of the tragedy.
"We started on Monday. I haven't been there yet myself, but I think it'll be good to kind of reconnect with everyone," he admitted.
Yesterday, Lea Michele tweeted her first photo back on set, captioning the pic, "Feels so good to be home...#GleeSeason5."
Kevin McHale, Darren Criss, Jenna Ushkowitz and cocreator Brad Falchuk also took to social media to share their thoughts as they headed back work.
The tight-knit cast has come together more than ever as they deal with the passing of Monteith, who played Finn Hudson on the hit Fox series. The 31-year-old actor was found dead in his Vancouver hotel room July 13 due to a toxic combination of heroin and alcohol.
As for the future of the show?
FOX Entertainment Chairman Kevin Reilly recently revealed that Finn's death will be connected with the late actor's troubled past.
"The third episode will write Finn out of the show. That episode will deal directly with the incidents involved with Cory's passing and the drug abuse in particular," he said, though Reilly wouldn't confirm that Finn would die from a drug overdose.
And Glee also released a touching memorial card through their YouTube channel to honor the fallen star.
This isn't the first time Colfer has directly addressed the death of his costar and friend.
He broke his silence via Instagram two weeks ago, posting a screenshot of the pair during a Glee Q&A.
"I'll never forget all the laughs we shared or the faces we made after awkward interview questions," he captioned the photo. "Love and miss you, buddy."
