American Idol, the network's long-running reality juggernaut, will no longer be airing two shows a week, sources confirm to E! News.
Following in the footsteps of So You Think You Can Dance and Dancing With the Stars, the reality singing competition will air one episode per week—with the performance and results within the same show.

Prior to his exit, former Fox president Kevin Reilly hinted at major changes for Idol in its upcoming 14th season back in May.
"The format of Idol will change," Reilly told reporters. "Next year the format will be different. I think you'll see it a two-night format, at least initially during the audition phase. It's quite likely…we'll end up being a two-hour show on one night for most of its run."
Still, the news is somewhat surprising. Although Idol's ratings have declined significantly since its earlier seasons, it remains one of the network's strongest shows.
Returning for the new season are judges Jennifer Lopez, Keith Urban and Harry Connick Jr., while former judge and season 13's in-house mentor Randy Jackson announced he will not be back. Music producer Scott Borchetta, aka Taylor Swift's producer, will be replacing Jackson.
American Idol returns Jan. 7 on Fox.
