Glee's Unholy Trinity Is Back in Action…and in Cheerios Uniforms?! See the Pics!

Is Glee traveling back in time or have Brittany, Santana and Quinn decided to relive their glory days?

OK, we're a little confused about the final season of Glee.

We were previously told by the Glee boss, Ryan Murphy himself, that the final season of the Fox hit show is going to jump forward in time and go back to Lima. But based on these on-set photos taken on Monday of returning stars Dianna Agron, Naya Rivera and Heather Morris, it looks like the show has actually gone back in time.

Why else would the Unholy Trinity of Quinn, Santana and Brittany be back in Cheerios uniforms, and on the McKinley High School football field?!

All right, clearly Glee is not going to pull some kind of Lost twist and start jumping forward and backward in time, but we're having a hard time coming up with a reason of why these McKinley graduates, who are all living amazing and successful and glamorous lives out in the real world (Quinn's at Yale, Brittany's at MIT and Santana's in NYC), would come back to their high school and pick up their pom poms once more.

Maybe they're back for a reunion, and are taking to the field as Cheerios again for old times' sake? The back of Agron's uniform says "Cheerio Alum," and while filming, the trio of girls performed a musical number on the field with a marching band.

Whatever the reason may be, we're excited to see these former besties/frenemies back together once more for the final season. We guess the old saying is true...you can take the girls out of high school, but you can't take the high school out of the girls.

"My feeling about the last season of Glee is very clear, and that is that we will be reaching out to all of the regulars on the show, that original group of Glee club members and the teachers, and anybody who wants to come back can come back," Murphy told us. "Anybody who wants to be a part of the show, we welcome them."

And sounds like most of the original cast took Murphy's statement to heart, since so many favorites will be back for the final season, including Lea Michele, Chris Colfer, Darren Criss, Rivera, Agron, Morris, Dot-Marie Jones, Jane Lynch, Kevin McHale Matthew Morrison, Chord Overstreet, Jenna Ushkowitz and Amber Riley.

Glee's final season will air in 2015.
