Home Alone truthers are the new Moon Landing Was Faked truthers.

On reddit, one fan posted that Home Alone has a pretty large plot hole, and since the iconic Christmas film will be shown in theaters for its 25th anniversary, the debate has been making the rounds on the Internet the past couple of days

The plot hole is simple, and yet it possesses the ability to rip the entire movie wide open!

"The entire plot relies on Kevin's parents being unable to call home to speak to their son, after the phone service to their house is severed by a falling tree," reddit user 1peaia writes. "Kevin, however, is somehow able to call Little Nero's to deliver his very own cheese pizza; this is never explained. It serves no purpose but to set up the use of the ‘Angels with Dirty Souls' tape later in the film. Still love the movie though!"

What's the deal, Kevin? ANSWER US!

Well, one redditor did and to be honest, their reasoning seems pretty solid.

"I always assumed the tree actually severed the main trunk line to the whole town, but local calls within the same exchange still worked," they offered.

Seems legit. But not legit enough for some apparently, because Huffington Post really dug into this mystery and reached out to AT&T Vice President-Federal Regulatory Hank Hultquist about the answer to the plot hole.

"Everything is changing now because of all this phone capability is moving into the cloud, but in 1990, that was absolutely a plausible scenario," Hultquist said. ‘When you're trying to call from Paris, now you're relying on a whole series of connections including undersea cables, any one of which could have a problem, which would prevent you from reaching some particular telephone number."

There you have it, folks. Mystery (sort of) solved. You can finally sleep soundly at night, ya filthy animals.
