Just kidding. Bindi Irwin and Derek Hough swept that thing, as we always knew they would. While they weren't exactly perfect every week, they were perfect enough. We had gotten to the point where their perfection was boring us. That's how good they truly were.
Bindi had some fantastic competition in Nick Carter, Carlos PenaVega, and Alek Skarlatos' adorable face, but there was really no comparison to her spirit, her smile, and of course, her dancing.
Look at us. Bindi Irwin has turned us into soft weepy messes, and we don't even care. She's been an inspiration, a "shining light," and a beautiful ray of sparkling sunshine on a regular basis, and we couldn't be happier to see her win.
Tonight's finale was not all about crowning Bindi and Derek as the winners, however. It was also about a whole bunch of delightful holiday nonsense. Santa Claus was there, and once he was even played by Gary Busey in an odd Twas the Night Before Christmas sketch that made us feel a bit like we were dreaming.
There was also more dancing, including a few great but relatively forgettable final performances from the three finalists, just before Alek Skarlatos was rightfully eliminated. He was fun inspirational and all that, and did improve a lot over the course of the season, but his dancing did not even compare to that of Bindi, Nick, Carlos, Alexa, or even Tamar before she fell ill.
If you ask us, Bindi was the rightful winner from week one.
