Negan Sounds Absolutely Terrifying in The Walking Dead's Mid-Season Prologue

Check out the brief preview of the second half of season six that debuted after tonight's Walking Dead mid-season finale

"What in the holy s--t?"

Abraham's words were also our thoughts during the prologue to the next chapter of The Walking Dead, which aired after tonight's mid-season finale

Would you be able to react normally and without obscenities if someone were to say this to you?

"We will end your asses, split you right in two, straight through to the sinuses."

That's the pleasant greeting that Abraham, Sasha, and Daryl got when they encountered a few bikers on the road, and they soon discovered that these deeply upsetting people are working for some guy named Negan who's going to take literally all of their stuff, from their weapons to the extra napkins they keep in their car (which we can't imagine is still a thing during the zombie apocalypse, but whatevs).

That all sounds pretty terrible (especially given what we know about Negan and what he does to some people, especially those named Glenn), but we will not lie: we are excited to see Jeffrey Dean Morgan show up on The Walking Dead, even if he is wielding a barbed wire baseball bat named Lucille.

We are thoroughly enjoying Morgan's current (and steamy) stint on The Good Wife, so we're imagining a world in which we sit down at 9 p.m. to watch him truly terrify us, and then at 10 p.m. (because we DVR'd The Good Wife at 9) he takes off his shirt. What a life that would be.

Unfortunately, we have to wait a while to actually meet Negan, since he's not officially showing up until the season six finale. Not to worry though, since Morgan will be a series regular when season seven presumably debuts next fall to give us more of our favorite weekly heart attacks.

In the meantime, season six of The Walking Dead returns Sunday, February 14 at 9 p.m. on AMC.
