Harrison Ford and Adam Driver are both looking forward to the release of Star Wars: The Force Awakens—as as legions of die-hard fans—and the two actors are opening up to Empire magazine about their roles in the film.

When asked how his character's onscreen relationship with the beloved Wookie Chewbacca, Ford shared, "They were very much like an old married couple to start with. I think people will find them very much the same as ever."

And while it's been 32 years since Ford teamed up with Peter Mayhew, the actor behind Chewy, he says they picked up right where they left off.

"We still have the same bond, we look after each other. We are like a married couple! Especially when we're in the cockpit together. I like it."

Meanwhile, Driver (who plays Kylo Ren in the future flick) dished about the cast coming together in a way that reminded him of his time in the United States Marines.

"It's a group of strangers forced to be intimate in a short amount of time. A group of people trying to accomplish a mission greater than themselves. It's not about you. You have to know your role within a team and there's someone who's leading it and, if you're lucky, they know what they're doing."

The Girls star also admitted that playing Ren had its challenges, mainly stemming from his black-and-gold helmet.

"Playing someone who's masked, your body plays such a role in what you're trying to play. What was so powerful in the original trilogy is that even though (Darth Vader) was behind a mask you could always feel (him) thinking."

Star Wars: The Force Awakens will hit movie theaters on Dec. 18.
