It came out of nowhere.

That basically sums up our thoughts on Bones' season 10 premiere on Thursday night, which featured the loss of a major character. (Warning, major, major, major spoilers ahead!)

In the episode's final moments, Sweets (John Francis Daley) was beaten to death, dying in Booth's (David Boreanaz) arms. Excuse us while we once again go cry all the tears.

A part of the Bones family for seven years, Daley was written off the show as he's set to direct the upcoming remake of National Lampoons' Vacation, and his cast members are definitely mourning the loss of both the actor and the character.

In the video above, David Boreanaz, Emily Deschanel, Tamara TaylorMichaela Conlin and TJ Thyne reflect on the premiere's shocking death.

"It's super sad. It's a bummer," a teary-eyed Conlin said. "He's our friend, for sure." Taylor simply added, "It was not a fun day."

And the cast was aware that the fans would have a very visceral reaction to Sweet's death, with Deschanel saying, "It's a loss and for people who love the show I'm sure they'll feel the hole that's been left by him." And the cast will feel it, too, according to Thyne: "We as a cast are very much with the fans where we're all working together to get through this."

So how will the show deal with the immediate fallout from Sweet's death? Watch the video above to find out.

Bones airs Thursdays at 8 p.m. on Fox.
