Just hours after filing divorce papers to officially end her more than 22-year marriage to Bruce Jenner, the Keeping Up With the Kardashians matriarch was all smiles when spotted at Los Angeles International Airport, where she was about to hop on a flight to Europe.
Kris—who has been excitedly applauding daughter Kendall Jenner via social media for the 18-year-old's series of successful runway appearances during Milan Fashion Week—was the picture of fall-travel chic in skinny black pants, boots, a white pea coat and a massive cream-colored handbag. She kept her sunglasses on inside the terminal as well.
But the big smile wasn't that shocking, considering she and Bruce have been separated for more than a year, their true date of separation—June 1, 2013—having been revealed in court documents. The still-friendly exes didn't confirm that they were separated until October, when they issued a joint statement saying that they were "much happier living apart."
Subsequently, there haven't been any pertinent tweets or comments from any member of the Kardashian or Jenner family following the filing.
Kris cited irreconcilable differences as the reason for the split and noted that she wanted joint physical and legal custody of 17-year-old Kylie Jenner, the only minor child in the family fold. She filed the paperwork with no attorney on record, an indication that she and Bruce are amicably working things out themselves.
Asked in January during an appearance on Today whether she was contemplating divorce, Kris said, "I don't think we've made that decision. We're best friends. I mean, we talk all the time...We're happier the way that we are right now. We're really happy. Life is normal, except we're living in two different houses."
