Ty Herndon is talking wedding planning!
The 52-year-old country singer, who came out as gay last month, made his red carpet debut with partner Matt Collum last night at The Trevor Project's TrevorLive benefit in Hollywood. "It's my first big red carpet with Matt," Herndon told E! News. "The first time I've ever done a carpet with someone I've been with for a long time. [It's] fantastic."
Herndon says the fan response to his coming out announcement has been nothing but positive. "The crowds have been sold out," Herndon, who is currently on tour, dished. "I've walked out to standing ovations. I'm like, ‘You guys have gotta settle down! I gotta get through this show.' I've become a big blubbering crybaby over the last 10 days."
As for his decision to open up about his sexuality with the public, Herndon said, "I have struggled with being gay my entire career, so much so that it almost killed me more than once...So it was time. It was time fans know the true me and now my music's only going to get better."
And yes, Herndon says he and Collum have "absolutely" talked about getting hitched. "That's the next step for us, of course," he smiled. "Wedding bells in the future."
But what about having kids? "I don't know. I'm getting on up there," he laughed, adding, "It's not impossible. It's not out of my mind."
