Danger, drama and dames! Tonight's highly anticipated episode of Castle takes us back in time to 1947, where the whiskey is stiff and the "smooches" are intense. But more on that in a bit…

We were recently on set when the cast was filming "The Blue Butterfly," and we've got all the storyline scoop from stars Nathan Fillion and Stana Katic about tonight's noir-style episode and their alter-ego romances...

Tonight's episode has so many twists and turns, it'll give you a headache if you're not paying close attention. Luckily, Nathan Fillion was kind enough to break it down for us: "A treasure hunter is murdered and it turns out he's after this bejeweled brooch of a piece of necklace that was involved in some kind of big drama in the forties." And just what exactly makes this necklace so special? Nothing really, it's just a sapphire-and -diamond-encrusted blue butterfly worth a small fortune.

In order to find this rare necklace Katic explains that Castle takes the phrase "walk a mile in a man's shoes" to a whole new level. "Castle discovers a private investigator's diary and he starts going through this man's life back in the forties. All of these characters come alive through characters that very much resemble our Beckett, Castle, Esposito (Jon Huertas) and Ryan (Seamus Dever) and so on."

Beckett's alter ego is Vera, a beautiful runaway whom Castle calls "trouble on two legs." Katic teases: "My character is a gangster's moll, basically a gangster's girlfriend, and the gangster is played by Mark Pellegrino. Castle's character is the private investigator, so the two of them fall in love. There is a really great love story that happens." Well, it's about time that Castle and Beckett get together! Even if it is in another reality.

Caskett shippers can get excited because Fillion tells us that in addition to lighting cars on fire, Vera and the P.I. will be heating up in other ways. "I think in the forties they smooched a lot harder then we do nowadays. It had a little more 'umph' to it."

But we'd have to say that the best part of the episode is definitely the fast-paced '40s lingo. Fillion tells us, "It's a very poetic, very neat kind of a jibber-jabber and everybody has got a very particular kind of character different from the ones they already play, so that's a lot of fun. It's very flowery, it's very cool."

Tune in tonight for an all-new time-traveling episode of Castle at 10 p.m. on ABC.
